If any club is interested in hosting any of the above, please contact the NW fixtures secretary. Rules and guidelines can mostly be found under British Orienteering's Event Competition Rules page. Some have very fixed dates (e.g. third weekend in September), some have general guidance but some flexibility.
Northern championships
See Northern Championships rota for the Northern Champs and Northern Night Champs rotas between NWOA, NEOA and YHOA. When it is NWOA's turn the NW fixtures secretary seeks an offer to host from the NW clubs (or twists someone's arm...).
North West champs, leagues and other events
NW Urban League and NW Night League - See North West Leagues for background and Leagues for results for each year. The organisers of these leagues respectively ask clubs for events to be part of the leagues.
Compass Sport Cup heat and Yvette Baker Trophy heat - See CSC & YBT rotas for rotation around the active NWOA clubs.
NW Sprint Champs - Previously held somewhat informally and sporadically, mainly by MDOC and DEE. In the 2026 NWOA AGM it was agreed this should be an event that rotates around all clubs in NWOA with a well-defined rota (which is to be drawn up...).
There is no single NW Long, Middle or Night Champs - such is felt unnecessary given the already existing plethora of other leagues and championships!
